Ο Άγιος Συνέσιος είναι ένας τοπικός άγιος της Κύπρου ο οποίος είναι ο πολιούχος άγιος του κατεχόμενου χωριού Ριζοκαρπάσου και θεωρείται ως ο προστάτης της Καρπασίας. Ο Άγιος Συνέσιος γεννήθηκε στην Καρπασία και διαδέχτηκε στον επισκοπικό θρόνο τον Άγιο Φίλωνα. Για τον βίο του Αγίου Συνεσίου έγραψε ο μοναχός Ακάκιος. Στο χωριό Ριζοκάρπασο υπάρχει ναός αφιερομένος στον Άγιο Συνέσιο ο οποίος χρονολογείται από τον 12ο αιώνα. Ο ναός αυτός χτίστηκε δίπλα από σπηλιά γνωστή ως «σπήλιος τ΄αή Συνέση» όπου ο Άγιος έζησε κι άγιασε. Ο ναός του Αγίου Συνεσίου βρίσκεται στην κεντρική πλατεία του χωριού και είναι ένας από τους τρεις μοναδικούς Ορθόδοξους ναούς στα κατεχόμενα που ακόμη λειτουργούν και που δεν έχουν βεβυλωθεί, καταστραφεί, ή μετατραπεί σε μουσεία από τους Τούρκους, λόγο του ότι στο Ριζοκάρπασο ζουν ακόμη μερικές εκατοντάδες Ελληνοκύπριοι. Η μνήμη του Αγίου Συνεσίου εορτάζεται στις 16 Μαΐου, αλλά το μεγάλο πανηγύρι του Αγίου Συνεσίου γινόνταν κατά την βδομάδα της Λαμπρής όπου πλήθος κόσμου έφθανε στο Ριζοκάρπασο για να προσκυνήσει τον Άγιο και να κάνει τα ψώνια του
Saint Synesiοs (Synesius) is a local saint of Cyprus, who is the patron saint of the occupied village of Rizokarpaso and is regarded as the protector of the Karpas Peninsula (Karpasia). Saint Synesios was born in the ancient city of Karpasia and succeeded Saint Philon in the episcopal throne of Karpasia. The biography of Saint Synesios was written by the monk Akakios. In the village of Rizokarpaso there is a church dedicated to the said Saint, dating from the 12th century. The church was built next to a cave known as " the cave of Saint Synesis" where the Saint lived a holy life. The church of Saint Synesios is located in the central square of the village and is one of the only three Orthodox churches in the occupied territories of Cyprus that are still factioning and have not been pillaged, destroyed or turned into museums by the Turks for the simple reason that a few hundred Greek Cypriots still live in Rizokarpaso. The memory of Saint Synesios is celebrated on May 16, however the big feast of Saint Synesios used to take place during the week of Easter, where crowds of people used to come to Rizokarpaso in order to pay their respects to the Saint and make their shopping.Πηγή http://noctoc-noctoc.blogspot.com.cy/
