Aphanius fasciatus - Mediterranean killifish - Toothcarp - Αφάνιος - Cyprus

Family: Cyprinodontidae

The Mediterranean killifish or South European toothcarp (Aphanius fasciatus) is a species of fish in the Cyprinodontidae family. It is found in Albania, Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Lebanon, Libya, Malta, Morocco, Montenegro, Slovenia, Spain, Syria, Tunisia, and Turkey. Its natural habitats are saline lakes, saline marshes, and coastal saline lagoons. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Maybe Aphanius fasciatus is the only native fish species of inland waters in Cyprus. Is reported in saline lakes, marshes and lagoons at Famagusta and Akrotiri (Limassol).

We do not know exactly what species this Toothcarp belongs to. The taxon is usually ascribed to Aphanius fasciatus but its systematics and taxonomy on Cyprus have not been explored.  From http://zogaris.blogspot.com.cy
