Phloeotribus scarabaeoides (Bernard 1788) - Cyprus

Phloeotribus scarabaeoides is a small beetle in the family of Curculionidae. Some times can be a pest of crops. It affects mainly the olive tree. The adult is about 2 or 2.5 mm. They overwinter as adult in chambers made in the branches. At the end of winter, coinciding with the time of pruning the olive tree, they attack branches and lay there eggs in a chambers under the bark.
