Στις 12 Ιουνίου 2022 μίλησα στις «Ειδήσεις στις 8» του ΡΙΚ 1 για την αύξηση των τρωκτικών στην Κύπρο και για την ευθύνη του ανθρώπου στη διατάραξη της φυσικής ισορροπίας.

Η θανάτωση των φυσικών θηρευτών των τρωκτικών, όπως τα φίδια, οι αλεπούδες και τα αρπακτικά πουλιά, περιορίζει τον φυσικό έλεγχο των πληθυσμών τους και μπορεί να συμβάλει σημαντικά στην αύξησή τους. Αντί να σκοτώνουμε αυτά τα πολύτιμα ζώα, πρέπει να τα προστατεύουμε, καθώς διαδραματίζουν ουσιαστικό ρόλο στη λειτουργία των οικοσυστημάτων και στον περιορισμό των τρωκτικών.

The Increase in Rodent Populations in Cyprus – News at Eight, CyBC 1

On 12 June 2022, I spoke on CyBC 1’s “News at Eight” about the increase in rodent populations in Cyprus and human responsibility for disrupting the natural balance.

The killing of the natural predators of rodents, such as snakes, foxes and birds of prey, reduces the natural control of their populations and can contribute significantly to their increase. Instead of killing these valuable animals, we must protect them, as they play an essential role in the functioning of ecosystems and in controlling rodent populations.
