Μπορεί ο καιρός να μην μας έκανε την χάρη, αφού η συννεφιά έκρυψε καλά την πολυαναμενόμενη super πανσέληνο της 14^ης Νοεμβρίου, εντούτοις οι ειδικοί (με ή χωρίς εισαγωγικά) βρήκαν τον τρόπο να την φωτογραφήσουν.

Λίγο το ‘χεις να περιμένεις σχεδόν 69 ολόκληρα χρόνια από το πολύ μακρινό 1948 οπότε και η Σελήνη είχε πλησιάσει ξανά για τελευταία φορά τόσο κοντά στη ΓΗ; Ναι, -για όσους δεν έτυχε να το δουν κάπου- το φεγγάρι είναι το μεγαλύτερο που έχει υπάρξει μετά το 1948.

Οπότε, μια τέτοια ευκαιρία δεν την χάνεις. Ένα τέτοιο υπέρλαμπρο φεγγάρι δεν το αφήνεις στα αζήτητα, όσο κι αν φύση συνηγορεί εναντίον σου. Η σούπερ πανσέληνος προσέφερε μαγικές εικόνες αφού απείχε από τη γη μόλις… 348.400 χιλιόμετρα και όσοι ήθελαν πραγματικά να την φωτογραφήσουν θα έβρισκαν τον τρόπο.

Όπως ο Γιώργος Μιχαήλ, ο φωτογράφος του Εκδοτικού Οίκου ΔΙΑΣ, που με τους εξαιρετικούς φακούς του στήθηκε στο ύψωμα πάνω από την Χρυσοσπηλιώτισσα στην Δευτερά περιμένοντας, αλλά και ο Γιώργος Κωνσταντίνου, Πρόεδρος του Συνδέσμου Προστασίας Φυσικής Κληρονομιάς και Βιοποικιλότητας της Κύπρου, ο οποίος ανέβηκε στο ύψωμα πάνω από το εγκαταλελειμμένο χωριό Άγιος Σωζόμενος, κοντά στην Ποταμιά.

Παρά τις σχετικά αντίξοες συνθήκες και οι δύο μάς χάρισαν εξαιρετικές φωτογραφίες και τους ευχαριστούμε!

Οπότε, μέχρι την επόμενη φορά που το φεγγάρι θα βρεθεί και πάλι τόσο κοντά μας και θα φαίνεται τόσο μεγάλο και φωτεινό, τον Νοέμβριο του 2034 όπως μας λέει η NASA, κρατήστε τις εικόνες των δύο Γιώργηδων.

The weather may not have done us any favours, as the cloud cover managed to hide the much-anticipated super full moon of 14 November, nevertheless the experts (with or without quotation marks) found a way to photograph it.

Is it a small thing to wait almost 69 whole years, since the distant year of 1948, when the Moon last came this close to the Earth? Yes, for those who may not have happened to see it mentioned somewhere, the Moon is the largest it has appeared since 1948.

So, you do not miss an opportunity like this. You do not let such a brilliantly shining moon go to waste, however much nature may seem to be working against you. The super full moon offered magical images, since it was only… 348,400 kilometres from the Earth, and those who really wanted to photograph it would find a way.

Like Giorgos Michael, photographer for the DIAS Publishing House, who, equipped with his excellent lenses, positioned himself on the hill above Chrysospiliotissa in Deftera and waited, as did George Konstantinou, President of the Association for the Protection of the Natural Heritage and the Biodiversity of Cyprus, who climbed to the hill above the abandoned village of Agios Sozomenos, near Potamia.

Despite the relatively adverse conditions, both of them gave us excellent photographs, and we thank them!

So, until the next time the Moon comes this close to us again and appears this large and bright, in November 2034, as NASA tells us, keep these images by the two Georges.
