Απολαυστικές εικόνες κατέγραψε η κάμερα του ΑΝΤ1 από τα χιλιάδες φλαμίνγκο που θεάθηκαν στις Αλυκές της Λάρνακας και του Ακρωτηρίου. Μειωμένος σε σχέση με πέρσι παραμένει ο αριθμός των αποδημητικών πουλιών εξαιτίας της ανομβρίας ενώ όπως υπογραμμίζουν οι ειδικοί, οι θεατές με τις πράξεις τους, τα απομακρύνουν από την χώρα μας.
2η μέρα του 2018, και οι αλυκές Λάρνακας και Ακρωτηρίου γεμίζουν με χιλιάδες φλαμίνγκο και γίνονται πόλος έλξης για ντόπιους και τουρίστες.
Σύμφωνα με τους ειδικούς, αυτός ο μήνας για φέτος, είναι ο καταλληλότερος για να επισκεφθεί κανείς τις αλυκές της χώρας μας και να απολαύσει τα φλαμίνγκο.
Ο Ανώτερος Λειτουργός της Υπηρεσίας Θήρας Νίκος Κασίνης δήλωσε:
"Αυξήθηκαν από τον Νοέμβριο με περίπου 3000 να έχουμε τέλη Δεκεμβρίου και στις 2 Αλικές και λίμνη Ορόκλινης που υπάρχουν μερικές δεκάδες Φλαμίνγκο. Στην Λάρνακα επειδή είναι πιο λίγο το νερό από ότι στο Ακρωτήρι, ήταν πολύ πιο μικρός ο αριθμός τον Νοέμβριο".
Ωστόσο φέτος εξαιτίας της ανομβρίας, ο αριθμός των αποδημητικών πουλιών διαπιστώνεται μειωμένος σε σχέση με πέρσι και σύμφωνα με τον λειτουργό Υπηρεσίας Θήρας, θα έπρεπε να έρθουν γύρω στις 10 χιλιάδες.
Την ίδια ώρα, ο πρόεδρος του Συνδέσμου Προστασίας Φυσικής Κληρονομιάς Γιώργος Κωνσταντίνου μιλώντας στον ΑΝΤ1, επιβεβαίωσε με τη σειρά του πως αυτή την εποχή, τα φλαμίνγκο αποδημούν από τις βόρειες χώρες και φθάνουν στις περιοχές μας.
Υπογραμμίζοντας ότι στην Αλυκή της Λάρνακας, οι θεατές με τις πράξεις τους, απομακρύνουν τα φλαμίνγκο:
"Τα Φλαμίνγκο τρέφονται στις όχθες της Αλικής διότι εκεί βρίσκεται η Αρτέμια. Ενοχλώντας τα, τα αναγκάζουν να μαζευτούν στο κέντρο με αποτέλεσμα να μην τρώνε, άλλοι χρησιμοποιούν drone για να τραβήξουν πλάνα, το οποίο ενοχλεί τα Φλαμίνγκο. Πολλοί ακόμα μπαίνουν μέσα στο νερό, αυτά είναι απαράδεκτα".
Σε ό,τι αφορά το μαύρο Φλαμίγνκο φέτος όπως και πέρσι δεν θεάθηκε στις Αλυκές της χώρας μας.
ANT1’s camera captured delightful images of the thousands of flamingos observed at the Larnaca and Akrotiri Salt Lakes. The number of migratory birds remains lower than last year because of the drought, while experts emphasise that visitors are driving them away from our country through their actions.
On the second day of 2018, the Larnaca and Akrotiri Salt Lakes filled with thousands of flamingos, becoming a major attraction for local people and tourists.
According to experts, this month is the most suitable time this year to visit the salt lakes of our country and enjoy the flamingos.
Nicos Kassinis, Senior Officer of the Game and Fauna Service, stated:
“Their numbers increased from November, and by the end of December we had approximately 3,000 at the two salt lakes, as well as several dozen flamingos at Oroklini Lake. At Larnaca, because there was less water than at Akrotiri, their number was much lower in November.”
This year, however, because of the drought, the number of migratory birds was found to be lower than the previous year. According to the Game and Fauna Service officer, approximately 10,000 birds would normally have been expected to arrive.
At the same time, George Konstantinou, president of the Association for the Protection of the Natural Heritage, speaking to ANT1, also confirmed that during this period flamingos migrate from northern countries and arrive in our region.
He stressed that the actions of visitors at the Larnaca Salt Lake drive the flamingos away:
“Flamingos feed along the shores of the salt lake because that is where Artemia is found. By disturbing them, people force them to gather in the centre, with the result that they cannot feed. Others use drones to record footage, which also disturbs the flamingos. Many people even enter the water. These actions are unacceptable.”
Regarding the black flamingo, it was not observed at the salt lakes of our country this year, just as it had not been seen the previous year.
