Το είδος Dorcus alexisi είναι ενδημικό στην Κύπρο και είναι ο μοναδικός αντιπρόσωπος της οικογενείας Lucanidae στο νησί. Συναντάται σε παραποτάμια βλάστηση όπου οι προνύμφες του τρέφονται με νεκρό ξύλο των δέντρων Alnus orientalis (Σκλήδρο), Platanus orientalis (Πλάτανος), και Juglans regia (Καρυδιά). Το είδος αυτό συγκαταλέγεται ως κινδυνεύων από την IUCN.

The species Dorcus alexisi is endemic to Cyprus and is the only representative of the family Lucanidae in the island. It is found in riparian vegetation where the larvae feed on dead wood of the trees Alnus orientalis (Oriental alder), Platanus orientalis (Plane tree) and Juglans regia (Walnut tree). This species is included as endangered by IUCN.
